Hedger breaks own school record, Lady Cardinals finish 2nd at SWCCCA

BOLIVAR, Mo. -- New season, same record-breaking story for one Lady Cardinal Cross Country runner. Brooke Hedger found herself breaking her own school record once again at the SWCCCA Richard Clark Invitational in Bolivar. Hedger has already broken the school record twice in the 2024 cross country season. In Saturday's meet, she finished in 1st place with an 18:07.27 mark. That's 17 seconds faster than her previous record time of 18:20.20.

Not only did Hedger finish in 1st, another Lady Cardinal found herself with a 5th place finish. Araceli Perez wrapped up her run with a final time of 19:00.20. Overall, Webb City finished 2nd in the meet out of 36 schools.

1st - Brooke Hedger: 18:07.27

2nd - Ava Werberger-Doll, Joplin HS: 18:12.94

5th - Araceli Perez: 19:00.20

23rd - Emma McKinzie: 19:48.61

27th - Brooke Collard: 19:59.51

38th - Olivia Klotz:  20:21.27

65th - Tatym Buster: 20:57.27

96th - Kristina Bundy: 21:42.23

Webb City had a 2nd place finish with a total time of 1:37:17.26 and an average of 19:27.46. The team finished with 91 points. West Plains took the first place spot with 83 points.

The JV team also had a 2nd place finish. Alexa Shuster led the way, finishing in 8th. She had a final time of 21:35.30

The team travels to Carthage Thursday, September 11th. The race kicks off at 11 AM.
