CARL JUNCTION, Mo. - An unstoppable performance by Jaeli Rutledge led the Lady Cardinals to a huge victory against Carl Junction Monday night. Carl Junction came into tonight's matchup with only one loss on the season. The Bulldog's only loss came against the Cardinals during the Carl Junction Tournament September 28th. The Cardinals were looking to rebound against two tough losses at the Webb City Quad October 5th.
First Set: Bulldogs Strike First
The match kicked off with Carl Junction's Jadyn Howard setting up Caitlyn Kennedy for a kill, giving the Bulldogs an early lead. With a total of 30 points needed to win the set, they managed to take the set 30-28 and lead 1-0. This wouldn't be the only contested set in the game.
Cardinals Rally Back
The Cardinals weren't going down without a fight. In a long rally, Savannah Crane assisted Jaeli Rutledge, who showcased her skills with a kill, helping the Cardinals dominate the set 25-9. The game was now tied at one a piece.
Third Set: Rutledge Shines
The third set was just as contested as the first set, with both teams battling hard. The Cardinals looked to Rutledge again, who continued to impress with her strength, scoring multiple kills. By the end of the set, Webb City won 29-27 and took a 2-1 lead.
Fourth Set: Cardinals Close It Out
In the fourth set, Rutledge delivered the final blow with a floating kill. This secured a 27-25 set win and a 3-1 victory for the Cardinals, handing the Bulldogs their second loss of the season. The Cardinals are still the only team to defeat the Bulldogs this season.
