Lady Cards fall on penalty kicks

Lady Cards fall on penalty kicks

The Lady Cardinals and the Logan-Rogersville Wildcats battled through regulation and two overtime periods, deadlocked in a 1-1 tie, before the game was decided on penalty kicks.

Sophomore Kelsey Lewis scored the first goal of the game in the 9th minute to give Webb City the early lead 1-0.

The Wildcats evened the game at 1-1 just five minutes later.

For the remainder of regulation time and two 10 minute OT periods, neither team was able to score.  The final OT period ended in a flourish as both teams had shots inside the scoring area only to be turned away.

Webb City and LR both missed on their first PK attempts.  LR was able to convert the next two shots as the Cardinals missed, making the score 3-1.  Freshman Sydney Dixon delivered in round 4 and Allyson Lenker stopped the LR shot to close the gap to 3-2.  After Webb City was stopped in round 5, the Wildcats escaped with the win.

The Cardinals will travel to Willard on Thursday.
