Junior Abby Sargent was named the Central Ozark Conference - West Player of the Year for 25-26 season by a vote of the coaches. Joining her on the first team was classmate Addie Burns with sophomore Brecklynn Sargent getting a second team nod.
The Lady Cardinals, with a 20 win season, finished 2nd in the West division with 5-1 mark.
Abby Sargent - The junior scored 16.5 points overall, but increased it to 18 points a game in conference play. She also had better overall shooting percentage (51.9 - 48.7), including three point shooting (36.4 - 34.2) and free throws (.750 - .740) and had a better rebounding average (7.7 - 7.1). She recorded two double-doubles with a 17 and 11 night against Carthage and 19 and 12 the next outing with Willard. She followed that with her best shooting night at Parkview where she was 10-13 from the floor.
Addie Burns - Earned first team honor, finishing with similar numbers in conference play as compared to the regular season. Increasing her scoring average from 12.0 to 12.8 in COC West games, she had two separate 20 point nights, one against Willard and another at Joplin, finishing two rebounds shy of a double-double on both occasions.
Brecklynn Sargent - Named to the second team, Brecklynn scored nearly 10 points a game over five conference games. Limited playing time for the regulars in the rout of Parkview kept her average from increasing overall in conference games. She increased her rebounding presence by more than one per game during COC West.
Other awards will be announced at a later date.
