Big second quarter helps Cardinals turn back Blue Springs South

Leading 12-8 after the first quarter, the Lady Cardinals blitzed the Jaguars with 28 second quarter points, building a 40-11 half time lead, enroute to an opening round win on Thursday.  

A 16-0 run across the end of the first and start of the second quarter, was followed by another 14 point run in the middle of the second as the Lady Cardinals built a commanding 40-11 half time lead.  The Cardinals held the Jaguars without field goal in the second period, their only points from the foul line.

Addie Burns led the scoring column with a dozen followed by Adalyn Maxwell and Kenzie Horn each adding 10 each.  Adalyn grabbed a team high nine rebounds, Abby Sargent handing out five assists.  Defensive pressure forced the Jaguars into 26 turnovers.

The Cardinals will now face Blue Valley West in a semifinal contest on Friday evening at 7:30
