The Lady Cardinals made a trek across the state border and came back home with a 71-35 win over the Purple Dragons. Webb City hiked their record to 2-0 while handing Pittsburg their first loss of the young season.
After the first two minutes and a game tied at four, the Lady Cardinals closed the opening quarter on a 16-1 run to grab a 20-5 as the quarter came to a close. The Purple Dragons attempted to close the gap early in the second, scoring the first seven points and keeping in touch with the Cardinals. However, Webb City closed the half by scoring the last 11 points and taking a 36-15 lead into the break.
A big third quarter, where the Cardinals scored 29 points, pushed the lead to 65-29. A running clock in the fourth limited each teams scoring.
Four different players scored double figures led by Abby Sargent with 18. Kenzie Horn, with a trio from long distance, finished with 13, with Brecklynn Sargent (11) and Addie Burns (10) rounding out the scoring leaders.
Defensively, the Cardinals pressure forced the Purple Dragons into 31 turnovers, converting them into 34 points.
Webb City will now take part in the Lady Eagle Classic at Joplin with a 3:30 contest on Thursday against Blue Springs South.
