The Lady Cardinals opened the season with an impressive 83-47 win at Lebanon on Monday night. Five different players scored in double figures as they had their biggest scoring output since 2014.
After Lebanon scored first, the Cardinals went on a 13-0 run to pull ahead 13-2. When the Yellow Jackets stopped that run, the offense then scored the next eight and as Brecklynn Sargent hit a three at the buzzer to end the first quarter, the Cardinals had built a 20 point lead at 27-7.
Putting up another 27 points in the second quarter, the Cardinals headed into the locker room with a 54-18 cushion.
The Cardinals maintained the lead throughout the second half on their way to the season opening victory.
Whitlee Keith and Adalyn Maxwell led the scoring with 16, followed by Brecklyn Sargent, Abby Sargent and Addie Burns pouring in 13 each. Abby Sargent finished with a double-double as she also grabbed a team high 10 reboundsm Burns and Mawell just missed joining her as they both corralled nine rebounds.
The defense forced Lebanon into 21 turnovers and controlled the boards as they out rebounded the Yellow Jackets 48-28.
The next game will be at Pittsburg on December 9th.
