Scoring the first 12 points of the game, 16 of the first 17 and carrying a 35-19 lead into the half, the Cardinals looked to run away with their first round district game. For 30 minutes they held the lead.
However, the Willard Tigers refused to comply and on their home court made a second half run, cutting the lead in half at the end of the third quarter 44-36. Continuing to claw away, Willard took their only lead, 49-48, on a steal and layup at the 1:48 mark.
Following a missed shot, the Cardinals called a time-out with 1:31 left on the clock. Taking the ball out under the own basket, Abby Sargent made the quick pass into Adalyn Maxwell who banked in the go-ahead points while being fouled. Converting the free throw, Webb was now back in front 51-49. Abby Sargent then hit four free throws in the final minute to seal the win.
Abby Sargent finished with a double-double, 13 points and 10 rebounds, while handing out eight assists. Adayln Maxwell topped the scoring as she poured in 15 points. Whitlee Keith, with 11 first quarter points, was the third Cardinal in double figures as she totaled 13 points.
The Cardinals advance to the semi-finals on Saturday where they will take on top seed Marshfield at 1:00.
