The Lady Cardinals advance to the quarterfinals of the MSHSAA Class 5 playoffs with a 59-49 victory over the Ozark Tigers.
Ozark jumped out quickly, leading 10-5, but after a Webb City time out, the Cardinals went on a 10-0 run to finish with a first quarter lead 15-10. The Tigers closed to within 3 at 17-14, before another 11-4 run in the middle of the second quarter pushed the lead to ten points. Webb City found themselves going to the locker room with a 30-23 lead.
The Tigers opened the second half by closing within two points 33-31, but another seven point run after a timeout put the Cardinals back ahead 40-32. The third quarter came to an end with the Cardinals leading 43-36.
The fourth quarter started with the Cardinals building on their lead with their free throw shooting. The Tigers were able to get within 4 points late in the game before the Cardinals pressure forced a couple of turnovers and the lead quickly was back to ten points.
The Cardinals will now face West Plains on Saturday. The game will be played on the campus of Missouri State University with a 1:45 start.
