The Lady Cardinals ran their record to 23-9 with a win at Joplin on Monday.
Webb City recorded seven hits on the day and were aided by three Eagles errors in shutting out Joplin 8-0.
Alivia Nieburg reached on a one out error in the top of the second, courtesy runner Kylee Senter running for Nieburg promptly stole second and third. A walk to Brecklynn Sargent and stolen base put runners at second and third. The Eagle catcher unable to cleanly catch the third strike to Chasney Brown, was forced to throw down to first to complete the strikeout. On the throw Senter came home with the first run and then Brecklynn followed quickly behind her when the return throw home was misplayed. Webb City led 2-0 and the score stayed that way until the fifth.
Liz Rhuems lazered a solo home run over the left center field fence to put the Cardinals up 3-0 in the fifth.
The Cardinal batted around in the sixth, scoring five more runs. Alivia Nieburg started it again. This time she struck out, but hustled down to first safely as the ball got away from the catcher. Pinch hitter Kylee Sargent singled to center and a walk to Chasney Brown loaded the bases. Jo Jarmin then put down a squeeze bunt to score Senter, once again running for Nieburg, scored from third. Fielding the bunt, the Eagle pitcher attempted a throw to first that went off the first basemans glove. Kylee Sargent and Chasney Brown rushed around the bases, the Cardinals scoring all three runs on the play and Jarmin ending up at second. A single from Rhuems and a double from Lily Hall plated the other two.
Rhuems went 3-4 on the evening with the homerun, scoring twice.
Nieburg picked up the complete game win, limiting the Eagles to only four hits and striking out three. The defense helped out by turning two line drives into double plays. A line drive snagged by Lily Hall in the fifth and one by the Abby Sargent in the sixth helped erase Eagles potential threats.
On to district play on Wednesday, the Cardinals will take on Ruskin at 1:00 in a game to played at Carl Junction.
