The Lady Cardinals took care of a struggling Nevada team 25-1 in only three innings on Monday.
Scoring 12 runs in the top of the first inning, Webb City sent 16 hitters to the plate. Liz Rhuems tripled to start the game with Lily Hall and Karsyn Cahoon drawing back to back walks. A single from Addie Burns and another walk to Alivia Nieburg had the Cardinals holding a 2-0 lead with the bases loaded. Alex Maturino unloaded a grand slam to empty the bases and build a 6-0 lead. A walk to Chasney Brown, a double from Brecklynn Sargent and a triple from Abby Sargent and the Cardinals had batted around without having recorded an out. Karsyn Cahoon and Addie Burns added doubles later in the inning that pushed the run total to an even dozen in the first inning.
Nevada got a single run in the bottom of the first, but the Cardinals put up another big number in the second. Highlighted by an Abby Sargent inside the park home run and a blast from Liz Rhuems over the center field wall, another 12 hitters came to the plate with the Webb City adding nine more runs to the board. The final four runs were put up in the third.
Alex Maturino drove in six runs in her 3-4 afternoon. Abby Sargent drove in four on the 3-3 day. Liz Rhuems was also a perfect 3-3 with a double and the home run. Addie Burns, Lily Hall and Brecklynn Sargent each had two hits as Webb City pounded out a total of 18 on the day. Each starter scored at least once with Lily Hall scoring four times.
Webb City is set to open COC West division play with Republic on Tuesday at home.
