The Lady Cardinals finished the week on a high note, winning four out of five at the Springfield tournament.
In game one on Friday, a two run third inning was enough as Webb City opened the day with a 2-1 win over Liberty. Abby Sargent and Lily Hall both delivered two out run scoring singles, scoring pinch runners Brecklynn Sargent and Emily Wood. Laney Taylor got the pitching victory, scattering seven hits over six innings, striking out three and only issuing one free pass.
Allowing Camdenton to score a single run in the top of the first inning of game two, the Lady Cardinals put two runs on the board in their half of the first. Liz Rhuems led off with a solo homer to center field. Abby Sargent as hit by pitch, advancing to third with two outs. Addison Brown drove her in with a single to left.
Kylee Sargent , with a two run home run and Liz Rhuems with her second blast of the day, put three more runs on the board in the fourth.
Addie Burns got the win and Noa Shewmake pitched the final two innings.
After scoring 14 runs in the first inning on Thursday, on Saturday morning, the Lady Cardinals sent 12 batters to the plate before the first out was recorded and before the inning ended, all of them had scored. Lily Hall had the big hit of the inning, a three run home run to left. Combining five singles, two doubles and four walks, Webb City ending the inning with a 12-0 lead.
Lily Hall drove in seven runs in the contest as she went 3-4 at the plate. Abby Sargent, Kylee Sargent and Alex Maturino all recorded two hits. Laney Taylor was the beneficiary of the scoring outburst, picking up her second win of the weekend in the four inning, run ruled shortened game.
Republic used a single run in the first inning in trimming the Cardinals 1-0 in the second game on Saturday. Addie Burns pitched effectively, allowing only the single run on six hits and striking out five.
In the finale, the Lady Cardinals got their second win of the year over Nixa 8-7. Kylee Sargent drove in the first run in the first inning followed by Addison Brown extending the lead with a two run homer to left and Webb City led 3-0 after one.
Nixa put three on the board in their third inning and four more in the fourth to grab a 7-3 lead.
Back to back doubles from Chasney Brown and Karsyn Cahoon in the bottom of the fourth with one out cut the deficit to a single run at 7-6. An out later, Abby Sargent recorded the third double of the inning, driving in the equalizer and the go ahead run.
Nixa loaded the bases with nobody out in the final inning, but a pop out to first baseman Addie Burns in four territory was out number one. A fly ball to right fielder Karsyn Cahoon turned into a game ending double play as she cut down the Eagle runner trying to tag and score with a strong throw to catcher Liz Rhuems.
The Cardinals are on the road at Monett on Monday. The next home game will be on Tuesday,
