After scoring three runs in the bottom of the seventh to send the game into extra innings, a final rally in the eighth came up just short as the Cardinals fell at home to Carthage 9-8.

The Cardinals responded once again.  Kylee Sargent walked to open the home half.  Alivia Nieburg singled, followed by an Alex Maturino double and the Cardinals had their first run of the inning and would now have the tying run coming to the plate.  Chasney Brown scored run number two with a sac fly.  Run number three came quickly with an Addie Burns single to center.  Now the tying run was on base.  Rhuems singled, her third hit of the day, and after a fly ball out, Addison Brown walked to load the bases with two outs.  Sixty feet from extending the game.  However, the Tigers induced a game ending strike out.
