Lady Cardinals run rule Lebanon

The Lady Cardinals ran their record to 8-1 as they made short work of the Lebanon Yellow Jackets 12 -2 in five innings on Tuesday.

Alex Maturino was a perfect 4-4 on the day to the lead the 14 hit outburst.

The Lady Cardinals scored single runs in both the bottom of the first and second innings to claim a quick 2-0 lead.  Abby Sargent singled in the first and after stealing second base, scored the first run on an Alivia Nieburg single.  Maturino's first hit of the day leading off the second led to the second run as scored on two out hit from Karsyn Cahoon.

The Yellow Jackets caught the Cardinals in the third, scoring two runs of their own.  Chasney Brown put Webb City ahead in the fourth, scoring all the way from first on a single from Abby Sargent that got under the center fielders glove and rolled to the fence.

Webb City sent 12 batters to the plate in a nine run fifth inning to bring the game to an end.  Three consecutive basehits from Alivie Nieburg, Lily Hall and Maturino produced the first run.  After a walk to Addy Brown loaded the bases, pinch hitter Kylee Sargent drove home run number two with a sac fly to center.  From there the Cardinals took advantage of several Lebanon miscues to score six more times.  Maturino put an end to the game with final hit, scoring Lily Hall with the game ender.

Abby Sargent, Liz Rhuems, Alivia Nieburg and Chasney Brown each collected two hits on the day.

Karsyn Cahoon earned the win in relief as she pitched the final 2 1/3, allowing only two hits while striking out two.

The Lady Cardinals are on the road Thursday at Carl Junction.
