Lady Cards win season opener

The Lady Cardinals offense started the 2018 season scoring 19 runs in a season opening win at Nevada.

Renae Gillmore started the game with a bunt single, advancing to second a Darcy Darnell sac bunt.  Haidyn Berry delived a two out run scoring single and then scored as Karson Culver followed with a single to right.  An Ali VanZant walk and single from Quincy Capron was followed by a Trobi Haslip double off the left field fence and the Cardinals had a 5-0 lead after the first inning.

Webb City scored once in the second on a Gillmore solo home run and three more times in the third  for a 9-0 lead.

The offense then batted around in both the fourth and fifth innings, scoring five times in each inning.  

Gillmore and Keira Jackson each had three hits on the afternoon to lead the 20 hit attack.  Qunicy Capron scored 4 times and Karson Culver and VanZant each scored three runs.  

Berry got the start and pitched three innings, only allowing two hits and no runs.  Capron pitched the last two innings for the Cardinals

Webb City will travel to Monett on Thursday evening
