The Lady Cardinals defeat Eureka 1-0 on a walk off basehit in the bottom of the eight inning on Friday afternoon. They will face Lee's Summit at 2:00 on Saturday.
Megan Heman delivered a two out single to center in the bottom of the eighth to drive in the winning run and send Webb City to the finals. Emily Harris reached base on a one out single and advanced to second on a sacrifice bunt from Mikaela Burgess. Harris was waved home on the Heman hit and scored easily to end the game.
The Cardinals threatened in the bottom of the seventh but were denied on an unusual double play to end the inning. Kaitlin Beason reached base on a throwing error and advanced to second the on play. After a strikeout, Morgan Lammey popped up toward the pitcher, but the ball fell to the ground. Beason tried to score and was throw out at home. Lammey never stopped running and Eureka attempted to throw her out as she headed for third, but the throw was wild. As Lammey scrambled for home, the outfielder backing up the play threw home to nail Lammey for the third out.
Beason earned the complete game win, pitching all eight innings.
Webb City (22-4) will face Lee's Summit (23-6), a 3-1 winner over Parkway North, at 2:00 at the Killan Sports Complex in Springfield.
