Lady Cardinals advance with 6-1 victory

The Lady Cardinals advance to the quarterfinals with a 6-1 victory over Ozark.

Webb City scored in the top of the first as Asia Bemo reached on a throwing error and scored a Desirea Buerge base hit.  Ozark was able to tie the game by scoring unearned run of their own in the bottom of the inning.

The Cardinals had a base runner in each of the next three innings, but were unable to advance past second base.  Megan Heman reached on a walk to start the fifth.  Lacy Resa singled and Kaitlin Beason reached on an error by the second baseman as Heman scored.  Buerge walked to load the bases and Morgan Lammey drove a double over the right fielders head to clear the bases and stretch the lead to 5-1.

Mikaela Burgess added an insurance run in the sixth, reaching on a bunt single and later scoring on a wild pitch.

Resa was perfect 3-3 with a double and sac bunt on the day.  Samantha Gilstrap added two hits of her own.

Beason worked a complete game, only allowing two hits.

The Cardinals (20-4) will host Columbia Hickman (19-8)  on Saturday.
