Softball earns spot in Gold Bracket

The Lady Cardinals reached the Gold Bracket semi-finals with a 2-1 record in pool play on Friday.

They opened pool play defeating Carl Junction 11-1 and topping Neosho 16-0 before dropping a 3-1 decision to Rock Bridge.

The Cardinals' Lacy Resa went 6-for-9 and drove in eight runs for the day, including a three-run home run against Carl Junction and grand slam against Neosho.

Resa and Morgan Lammey each had three hits against Carl Junction.

The Cardinals' offense against Neosho, in addition to Resa's slam, included a three-run homer by Kaitlin Beason and a homer and two doubles by Desirea Buerge.

Webb City scored in the first inning against Rock Bridge, but the Bruins took th elead with two runs in the third inning and another in the fourth. Rock Bridge outhit the Cardinals 3-1.

They face McDonald County at 12:30 in the semi-finals.  They will finish with a game at 2:15.
