Lady Cards drop home finale

Lady Cards drop home finale

The Lady Cardinals are upended by the McDonald County Mustangs as the home portion of the 2012 regular season comes to an end.

The Cardinals, after allowing two runs in the top of the first, scored three unearned runs in the bottom of the inning to take an 3-2 lead.  Kaitlin Beason reached on an error and Desirae Buerge followed with a double.  Emily Harris then drove a ball off the short stops glove into short left field to scoring both runners and moved up to second on the throw home.  Tyler Alexander then singled in Harris to plate the third run.

After that, it was all Mustangs as they scored in every inning except the third and dropped the Cardinals 14-5.

Buerge led the offense with a perfect 4-4 day, with two doubles.  Morgan Lammey scored twice.

The Lady Cardinals travel to Nevada on Thursday to conclude the regular season and then will compete in the Carthage Tournament this weekend before district action begins next week.
