Lady Cards win three

The Lady Cardinals picked up three wins on Thursday, two in the Miami tournament and a conference win over Carthage.

Webb City defeated Wyandotte to start the day 10-0.  The Cardinals were paced by Desirae Buerge's 3-for-3 and four RBI. Lacye Res, Morgan Lammey and Mikaela Burgess each had two hits and winning pitcher Kaitlin Beason drove in two runs.

In their second tournament game, the Lady Cardinals continued the run scoring day, defeating Joplin 17-5.  Lacy Resa (grand slam) and Desirae Buerge (three-run blow) hit home runs for Webb City and Samantha Gilstrap added three hits and Buerge also drove in four runs.

Then after a bus ride back across the state line, the Cardinals moved their conference record to 5-0 with a 2-1 win at Carthage.  

Webb City scored the winning run in the top of seventh as ingles by Desirae Buerge and Morgan Lammey and a walk to Emily Harris loaded the bases and Lacy Resa's fielder's choice grounder was misplayed.

Kaitlin Beason allowed three hits, struck out five and walked one to earn the victory.

Getting two hits apiece in the game were Resa and Samantha Gilstrap.

The Cardinals continue tournament play on Friday as the battle Broken Arrow at 1:00.
