Webb City defeats Joplin 6-2

Webb City scores six runs in the fifth inning to turn back Joplin 6-2 on Saturday afternoon.

Mollie Peoples led off the inning with a single, but was forced out at second on a Megan Heman fielders choice.  Asia Bemo singled and Lacy Resa walked to load the bases.  Kaitlin Beason singled in the first two runs as the Cardinal took the lead 2-1.  Desirae Burge drove in the third run with a sharp single back up the middle.  Emily Harris finished the scoring with a blast over the left center field fence for a three run home run.  

Alex Brake scattered seven hits as Joplin was only able to score two unearned runs.  She struck out five and walked one in the complete game win.

Harris and Burge each had two hits to lead the Cardinals.  Resa had the only other extra base hit, a double in the first. 

The Cardinals will entertain Neosho on Tuesday night in a COC contest.  First pitch is scheduled for 5:00
