Webb City hit four straight run-scoring hits in the sixth inning and then held on in the seventh to beat McDonald County 7-6 in the Class 4 District 12 championship game on Friday.

The Cardinals travel to Ozark on Wednesday for the first round of the state tournament.

McDonald County took a 4-1 lead with a three-run outburst in the top of the fourth, but Lacy Resa led off the bottom of the inning with a home run to pull the Cardinals within 4-2.

Webb City (26-3) scored another run in the fifth to make it 4-3 before four straight run-scoring hits by Alexah Replogle, Kaitlin Beason, Lexie Gardner and Kambrey Cooper  gave the Cardinals a 7-4 lead after six innings.

The Mustangs made it interesting with a pair of runs in the seventh, but Beason, who came on in relief of Laney Kneib in the fourth, recorded the final out with the tying run at first.

Resa led the Cardinals offensively, going 3-for-3 with two doubles, a home run and two RBI.
