Chelsea Smith doubled in the winning run in the bottom of seventh, capping a four hit day for the senior catcher.
The Nevada Tigers touched Webb City starter Kyra Parker for two runs in the top of the first inning to grab a quick lead. The Cardinals wasted little time in mounting a threat of their own, as they loaded the bases in the bottom of the inning with Lexie Gardner drawing a walk and consectutive singles by Alexah Replogle and Smith, but were unable to scratch a run.
The Cardinals finally caught the Tigers with a two run fifth. Mikaela Burgess led off the inning with a single, but was forced out at second on a Laney Kneib ground ball. Gardner singled and Replogle moved them up with a ground out. Smith then picked up her first two rbi with a single to left.
Neither team would score in the sixth and the Tigers were turned away in the top of the seventh, setting up the finish.
Replogle doubled with one out and advanced to third on a wild pitch. Smith then doubled down the left field line for the game winning run.
Kneib, replacing Parker in the third, picked up the win. She struck out the first five hitters she faced and allowed one hit in her 4 and 2/3 innings.
Replogle was the only other Cardinal with multiple hits on the day with two, as the Cardinals scattered nine hits on the day.
The Cardinals will be in action this weekend in the Carthage tournament before starting district play next week. They are the number one seed for the tournament that will be held in Republic.
