The Lady Cardinals powered their way past Nixa 12-2 in a Central Ozarks Conference matchup on Thursday afternoon. A big seven run first inning put the Cardinals on cruise control as Coach Resa was able to get a lot of younger players some playing time.
The first inning started with Laney Kneib ripping a single to left and Lacy Resa followed that with a bunt single. Kaitlin Beason drove in Kneib with a sacrifice fly to right with the first run. Alexah Replogle singled and Lexie Gardner then drilled a double off the right field fence. Courtney Jones was hit by a pitch and Chelsea Smith drove in another run with a single. Mikaela Burgess picked up an rbi as she reached on a Nixa error. Kneib, batting for the second time, cleared the bases with triple into the right field corner. In the inning the Cardinals score seven runs on six hits.
They added three more runs in the second, highlighted by a Burgess double to fence in the left center that moved the score to 10-0 after two innings.
Burgess led the Webb City hitting attack with 3 hits, a single, double and triple with Kneib, Replogle and Smith each with two.
Kyra Parker picked up the win in the circle.
This was the Lady Cardinals second win on the day as they had defeated Wyandotte earlier in the day, 1-0, in the opening game of the Miami tournament.
The Cardinals travel back to Miami on Friday for two more pool games before a bracket game on Saturday. They will return home on Monday to face Carl Junction.
