Lady Cards edge Neosho

The Lady Cardinals scored twice in the sixth in defeating Neosho 2-1 on Tuesday afternoon.

After stranding six runners in the first five innings and allowing an unearned Wildcat run, the bottom part of the lineup came through in the sixth.  Laney Kneib reached on an error to start the inning and was sacrificed to second by Lexi Gardner.  Chelsea Smith drilled a double to left to drive in the first run and Courtney Jones followed with an RBI single to right plating pinch runner Mikaela Burgess to grab the 2-1 lead.

Starting pitcher Kyra Parker went five innings for the win and, after Neosho led off the sixth with a single, Kneib earned the save strking out the side in order in both innings.

Smith and Jones each had two hits on the day, with Kneib contributing a double.

The Cardinals (8-2) will entertain Carthage on Thursday in another Central Ozark Conference game.
