The Lady Cardinals scored single runs in the first, second and fourth innings and Laney Kneib limited Nixa to four hits to advance in the Class 4 playoffs on Wednesday night.
Morgan Coleman drew a one-out walk in the first and advanced to third on back to back hits by Kaitlin Beason and Alexah Replogle. Chelsi Smith then drew the bases loaded walk to score Coleman and the "visitors" on the scoreboard had a 1-0 lead after the top of the first inning.
Laney Kneib doubled to open the second and Coleman drove her home with a sharp single down the third base line. Nixa was able to get two of their hits in the bottom of the second and cut the Cardinal lead to 2-1 after two innings.
Back to back bunt singles from Asia Bemo and Callie Beaver in the fourth and a dropped fly ball off the bat of Coleman allowed the Cardinals to regain a two run lead, 3-1, after the fourth inning.
Nixa threatened in the fifth inning when a two out error and single put two eagles on base, but a ground ball to third baseman Lexie Gardner ended the inning.
After that Laney set down the eagles in each of the last two innnings in order with three groundouts in the sixth and a strikeout and two weak ground balls back to the pitching circle to end the game. Kneib finished with eight strikeouts and didn't allow a walk in the complete game victory.
Alexah Replogle led the Cardinals with two hits on the day, including a double in the third. Coleman and Bemo each reached base twice on a hit and walk each.
