Lady Cardinal softball downs Wildcats 9-4

The Lady Cardinals defeated Neosho 9-4 on Tuesday.

The Cardinals grabbed the lead in the bottom of the first inning after Callie Beaver reached on an error and Morgan Coleman singled, Kaitlin Beason bunted them into scoring position and Alexah Replogle laid down a squeeze bunt to score Callie.  As the Wildcats attempted to throw out Replogle stealing second, Coleman scampered home with the second run of the inning.

After Neosho was able to cut the lead in half, Laney Kneib manufactured the third Webb City run leading off the fourth inning with a single to right and advancing to third on two groundouts.  A wild pitch allowed her to score and push the Cardinals back to a 3-1 lead.

The top of the lineup produced runs again in the fifth inning as Beaver and Coleman both singled to start the inning.  Beason followed with a 3 run homer to left and Repogle lined a solo shot to center before a Wildcat pitching change.  Kneib and Lexie Gardner would score later in the inning as the Cardinals extended their lead to 9-1.

Kneib picked up the win going four innings, Beason pitched into the seventh as a steady rain began to falll and Kyra Parker came in to secure the victory.

The Lady Cardinals are now 8-1 on the season and 2-0 in conference play.  They travel to Carthage on Thursday to take on the Tigers with a first pitch schedule for 5 p.m.
