Last night the Cardinal Boys Swimmers picked up 4 wins and 2 losses at home.
The main highlight of the night was Hayden Hickman turning in a state qualifying diving performance in the first meet of the year with a score of 214.35 to win the event. Our other overall event winner of the night was Nathan Schultz with his lifetime best 1:06.48 in the 100 breaststroke.
Wins were against Logan-Rogersville (135-27,) Nixa (134-39,) Ozark (117-57,) and Springfield Central in a neck and neck battle the whole way through the meet (96-88.) Coach Klosterman commented "It has been a couple of years since we have been able to beat Central and Nixa so I am proud of those wins."
The two losses came from two Missouri powerhouses. Kickapoo (93-90) and Glendale (114-69) are traditionally in the top 10 in the state, with Glendale taking second place last year at the MSHSAA Championships.
Other comments from Coach Klosteman -
"We have never beat either team in a dual in my 14 years. Kickapoo only beat us by three points last night. The last time we were this close to beating Kickapoo in a dual was probably 2003, which was the year we took the entire team to state."
"Even with only 12 swimmers on the team this year, I am feeling really good about this group. They are extremely motivated and we are already turning in swims that are better than last year's peak."
