Cardinals defeat Waynesville 2-1

WEBB CITY, Mo. -- Webb City Boys Soccer came into tonight's home match vs. Waynesville looking to get back into the win column, and that's exactly what they did. The team defeated Waynesville 2-1 to improve their overall record to 3-6.

Waynesville scored early into the game, but Webb City responded nearly halfway through the first half with a goal of their own. It was a foot race for Sebastian Aldrete, but he was able to deliver the ball on the ground to tie it up at 1.

In the second half, the offense came out swinging. In the 43rd minute, Luis Puerto assisted Caetano Davila to strike it past some defenders and through the net. This gave Webb City a 2-1 lead.

Trystan Smith came up with several nice saves to prevent the Waynesville offense from scoring again.

The team returns home Thursday, September 25th for a matchup against Springfield Central.
