Webb City Soccer takes third

Webb City Soccer takes third

After splitting a pair of games in pool play on Friday, the Cardinal soccer team came back on Saturday with a 2-1 PK win over Hillcrest.

The Hornets scored early in the contest but in the 30th minute, Raymond Houston fired in a shot from 30 yards out off his right foot to even up the score.  Early in the second half, the Hornets had shot from close range but goalie Trystan Smith was equal to the task preserving the tie.

Hillcrest and Webb City each made their first five PK opportunities.  But on try number six, Smith stopped the Hornet kick and Jake Annis stepped up a found the back of the net for the winner.

The Cardinals will back at home on Tuesday to face Carl Junction.
