Cards suffer first COC West loss at Neosho

Hitting their first three shots from long range helped the Cardinals maintain a lead throughout the first quarter.  A bad second quarter and 10-0 run from Neosho left the Cardinals trailing at half.  A scoreless spell in the third allowed the Wildcats to build a sizeable lead the Cardinals couldn't close in a 57-36 defeat.

Cardinal Leaders

Trae Turner - Only player in double figures finishing with 10 points.  Also had five assists and three steals.

Hudson Matthiesen - Scored nine points on three three-pointers.  Grabbed a team high seven rebounds.

Game Recap

Webb City opened the game with three consecutive makes from three point distance and held a 17-14 lead at the end of one.  Outscored 37-17 in the middle two quarters left the Cardinals trailing 51-34.  Neither team scored much in the fourth quarter and Neosho held the ball for the final three and half minutes.  

The loss drops the Cardinals to 4-1 in COC West play.  Webb City, still controlling their own destiny in the division, can capture the West title with a win at Joplin.

Team Stats

Webb City was whistled for only 13 fouls on the night, but Neosho converted them into 10-11 shooting from the free throw line.  Webb City only shot two free throws total.
