Shawnee Mission South, one of the top teams in large school Kansas basketball, used a blistering start, 10-12 shooting from the field, coupled with a cold start from the Cardinals to take all the suspense out of their semi-final meeting. In the first six minutes, the Raiders outscored the Cardinals 24-0. A free throw from Bratie Holland finally put the Cardinals on the board. The Cardinals didn't make their first bucket from the field until the final minute of the first quarter, trailing 28-7 at the end of the first.
After hitting 11 of 14 from the field in the first, the Raiders cooled off slightly, shooting only 8 of 17 in the second quarter while the Cardinals found a little more success and headed into the locker room down 48-21.
The second half was played on more equal footing, with both teams playing deep into their bench.
Rylan Houston led the scoring off the bench with eight points. Grayson Smith and Bratie Holland each finished with seven.
Webb City will play in the third place game on Saturday
