Webb City downs Monett

Webb City broke away in the third quarter and rolled past Monett 75-43 Tuesday night in nonconference boys basketball action in the Cubs' gymnasium.

The Cardinals (4-6) led 36-33 at halftime but outscored the Cubs 16-0 to start the third quarter and 22-2 in the period.

Nickhai Howard netted 14 points to lead four Cardinals in double figures. Tanner Rogers added 12 points, and Cohl Vaden and Luke Brumit had 11 and 10, respectively.

The Cardinals are now 2-0 against district opponents, while the Cubs fall to 1-3.

The Cardinals play Fort Scott at 4 p.m. Thursday in the Kansas Army National Guard Invitational in Frontenac.
