Kaden Roy will be the answer to the trivia question - Who scored the first varsity points in the new Cardinal Dome.
Roy's game opening bucket gave the Cardinals a quick 2-0 lead, but Hillcrest played the role of spoiler as they led 14-9 after the first quarter and went on to defeat the Cardinals 63-46 in the non-conference battle.
The Cardinals made a run to open the second half and briefly cut the lead to single digits, forcing a Hillcrest timeout, but the Hornets quickly reestablished the double digit lead. A third of the Hornets points came at the free throw line where they were 22 of 27 for the game. The Cardinals only attempted 12 free throws in the contest.
Roy finished the game with 12 points and Trey Gibson added 10.
