A outstanding defensive effort gave the Cardinals what they needed and that was a chance to take down Republic with one final drive. Taking over at the own 44 with five minutes remaining, the Webb City offense overcame a 2 and 30, converting a fourth and eight, and driving into the Tiger red zone. Facing a fourth down on the Tiger nine yard line, the Tigers came up with the stop they needed and the Cardinals found themselves on the short side of the 15-13 outcome.
The first half was all Republic as the Cardinals defense was put to the test. After allowing the Tigers to score on their first drive, they held up the rest of the half. Stopping two of the next three drives with fourth down stands and forcing a Tiger fumble, the Cardinals went into the locker room trailing only 6-0.
On the first play of the second half, the offense brought the Cardinal fans to the their feet as Andrew Young took a pitch around the right side and 80 yards later found himself standing in the end zone. A successful PAT from Jared Castro and Webb City had taken a 7-6 lead.
The Tigers responded with a touchdown of their own on their next series, but the offense wasted little time the next time they had the ball. On second down from their own 24, Mason Williams broke loose up the middle and 75 yards later was pulled down at the one yard line. Jackson Lucas called his own number and plowed in behind the offensive line for the score and Webb City had pulled back ahead 13-12.
The defense stopped the next Republic possession inside the 10 yard line but the Tigers kicked a 22 yard field goal that proved to be the difference.
Andrew Young led the rushing attack, finishing with 84 yards, Mason Williams close behind with 77 on only two attempts.
