The Cardinals opened district play with a 56-0 victory over McDonald County on Thursday evening.
Webb City overwhelmed the Mustangs defensively setting up the offense in great field position early in the game.
The Cardinals began their first drive at the Mustang 47 and needed only four plays to open the scoring as Trey Parra scored from 25 yards out. Their next drive began at the Webb City 48 and Kyle Baldassarre rumbled in from 37 yards on a counter play and a quick 14-0 lead.
The offense methodically marched down the field on an eight play, 53 yard drive. Logan Cloyd punched in from 5 yards. The defense recovered a fumble on the next play at the twenty six and the Cardinals scored their fourth touchdown of the half on a three yard pass from Tyson Roderique to Kiante Hardin.
The defense got into the scoring barrage with back to back interceptions for touchdowns. Calem Nutting ran back the first score from 15 yards and then Royce Clark returned his from 30 yards out and the Cardinals had a 42-0 lead at the end of the first half.
Kaleb Potts and Colton Adams each scored in the second half to make the final score 56-0
The Cardinals will entertain Carthage next Wednesday.
