Webb City played host to Branson on Friday night and came away with a 42-13 win.
The Cardinals got on the board first with a three play 51 yard drive, highlighted by a 36 yard run from Maddy Johnson, as Jamison Cady scampered five yards to the endzone and a 7-0 lead. They increased the lead early in the second quarter with Slade Byford capping a seven play drive with a 12 yard scoring run.
Nathan Ervin set up the next score with the third Webb City interception of the Pirates in the first half as the Cardinals took over on the Branson 48 yard line. After a defensive holding penalty, Maddy picked up 28 yards down to the ten and then scored two plays later. Webb City scored again in the second quarter with Johnson once again scoring from 11 yards. Alex Easley kicked his fourth PAT of the half and Webb City went to the locker room with a 28-0 lead.
Webb City opened the second half with a 80 yard scoring drive as Scott Roderique tossed a 20 yard scoring pass to Austin Daniel. The Cardinals final scoring drive consisted of Christian Hoffman carrying four straight times for 47 yards and quarterback Breckin Williams going the final five yards and the score. Branson was able to score on two big plays late in the game to make the final score 42-13.
The Cardinal defense finished with four takeaways with three interceptions as Collin Sigars, Jarvis Jones and Ervin each grabbed one and a fumble recovery in the second half.
Webb City offensively outgained Branson 440 to 227 in total yardage and was able to pick up 18 first downs while allowing only 6 to the Pirates.
The Cardinals ran their recored to 3-0 in Central Ozarks Conference play. They will travel to Neosho next Friday to battle the Wildcats.
