The Cardinals scored on their first offensive play, and on each of their seven possessions in the first half in defeating Willard in the home opener. After recovering an onside kick to start the game, Maddy Johnson sprinted 54 yards to give the Cardinals the lead eight seconds into the game. After Willard was unable to pick up a first down, a high snap sailed over the Tigers punter and senior linebacker Christian Hoffman recovered the loose ball in the end zone for a touchdown. The Cardinals scored again on the next possession as Scott Roderique recovered a fumble in the end zone and after Alex Easley's conversion led 21-0.
After a Breckin Williams interception of the next Tiger possession, the Cardinals scored on their second play as Austin Daniel turned a slant route into a 33 yard touchdown reception. The Cardinals wasted no time in scoring after the next Tiger punt as once again Maddy Johnson found the end zone on their first play for a 62 yard touchdown. Senior Slade Byford scored from 15 yards and Alex Easley kicked a 21 yard field goal to end the half as the Cardinals took a 45-0 lead into the locker room.
The Cardinals were able to score three more times in the second half as Jamison Cady scored on a 1 yard run, Breckin Williams from 52 yards out and in the final quarter with offensive backs rotating playing time its was sophomore John Roderique finding the end zone from 4 yards out.
The victory marked the 150th win for head coach John Roderique at Webb City.
