Cardinals get 20th win, celebrate seniors

Webb City got win number 20, 3-0 over Pea Ridge, and then honored nine seniors on a sunshine filled Friday afternoon.

A pitchers duel early, Webb City stranded two in the first and left the bases loaded in the third.  Tate Lewis, the Cardinal starter, set the Blackhawks down in order in both the first and second, then got out of the third and fourth with two runners left on base each inning.

The Cardinals finally scored a run in the fourth.  Konnor Hood doubled down the left field line with one out and moved to third on a wild pitch.  With two outs, a balk on the Pea Ridge hurler as he dropped the ball on the mound allowed Hood to trot home.

Mason Williams drew a one-out walk in the fifth and promptly stole second and third.  Lake Johnson then scored the run with a single to right and moved up to second on a  Trevor Lofland base knock.  Mason Young drove in the final run with single to left.

Tate Lewis went 4.2 innings, allowing three hits and striking out seven before leaving on a pitch count limit.  Bryson Bard then came on and worked 1.2 of no hits.  Braden Strickland pitched a perfect seventh, striking out one.

Mason Williams and Trevor Lofland each reached base three times with a base hit and two walks.  Williams also stole three bases.

At the conclusion of the game, the following seniors were recognized; Karsen Myers, Trevor Lofland, Dawson McMullen, Braden Strickland, Mason Wiliams, Bryson Bard, Chayse Denton, Brennan Burgess and Tate Lewis.

Webb City will be at Aurora on Saturday.
