The Cardinals hosted a portion of the Bill O'Dell Festival and came away with three wins over Friday and Saturday. A 6-1 win over West Plains on Friday night was followed up by an 11-0 win over Oak Park and a 10-9 win against Warrensburg on Saturday. With the victories, the Cardinals have now six consecutive and are 6-1 on the season.
West Plains
The Cardinals broke out to a 3-0 lead after the first inning on Friday night. Mason Young drove in both Mason Williams and Lake Johnson with a single and then came around to score himself on a Braden Strickland base hit. In the fourth, Webb City scored their final three runs on only one hit as the Zizzers were guilty of two errors. The hit was a double to open the inning from Braden Strickland. He later scored on an error. Dawson McMullen, hit by a pitch and then scored on a fielding miscue. The final run was scored by Mason Williams, who had reached on an error, as he scampered home on a wild pitch.
Barret Weller and Braden Strickland each recorded two hits on the evening, Mason Young with two runs batted in to lead the offense.
Tate Lewis earned the win, tossing the first 4.1, scattering four hits and striking out eight. Bryson Bard and Braden Strickland each pitched in relief.
Oak Park
Webb City only needed five innings to put away the Northmen on Saturday morning.
Karsen Myers, inserted in the lead spot, sparked the four run first inning with a double down the left field line. Standing on third with two outs, Trevor Lofland was hit by a pitch and Mason Young worked a walk to load the bases. Abel Getz drove in two with a single to right. Two more runs scored on Northmen miscues before the inning was over.
Webb City loaded the bases again in the second with two outs. Dawson McMullen scored when Trevor Lofland drew a walk and was followed by Karsen Myers scoring on a Mason Young single and they led 6-0 after two innings. Three more runs in the third and two in the fourth gave the Cardinals the 11-0 win in only five innings.
The Cardinals only recorded six hits on the game, two from Karsen Myers, but where the beneficiaries of eight walks, three hit batters and six Oak Park errors.
Rylan Bell got the complete game win, only allowing three hits, striking out six in his five innings of work.
Warrensburg
The Cardinals spotted the the Tigers three in the top of the first but came back to even the score and then used a six run fifth inning to open a 10-4 lead. Warrensburg made it interesting with a five run seventh before Braden Strickland was able to nail down the save.
Lake Johnson went 3-4 in the contest. Mason Williams drove in four, highlighted by an inside the park home run. Karsen Myers, Braden Strickland and Abel Getz each collected two hits in the contest. Mason Young reached base all four times, hit by a pitch on three occasions and launching a solo home run, his second round tripper on the year.
Chayse Denton earned the win, pitching three innings in relief of Mason Young who tossed the first three. Young, touched up for four runs, struck out three. Denton did not allow a hit in his stint, walking two and striking out two. Braden Strickland was called upon to quell the Tiger uprising in the seventh, taking over for Bryson Bard with bases loaded and only out in the inning. A run scored on a fielding error, but Strickland struck out the next hitter and coaxed a ground ball out to end the contest.
