The Cardinals put an end to a six game skid with a 10-0 win over Waynesville on Wednesday.
Webb City scored three times in the first inning without a base hit as the Tigers were guilty of three errors. Andrew Young reached on an error to start the inning. Stealing both second and third, he scored on a ground ball off the bat of Mason Young. Young found his way over to third when the Tigers misplayed a ball of the bat of Luke Beverlin. Now with runners on the corner, a wild throw on a pickoff attempt of Beverlin ended up down the line into right field allowing both Young to score from third as Beverlin came all the way around from first to score.
In the second, Hudson Byrd doubled and advanced to third on a wild pitch. A sacrifice fly off the bat of Landen Piette scored Byrd and Webb City led 4-0.
Four consecutive hits in the third inning, Karsen Meyers, Brock Renfro and Mason Young singles followed by a double from Luke Beverlin opened the inning. Coupled with a couple more Tiger errors, the Cardinals put three more on the board, extending their lead to 7-0.
Webb City pushed across four more runs in the sixth, ending the game early.
Karsen Meyers went 3-4 on the day, scoring twice. Mason Young drove in two runs as did Luke Beverlin. The offense garnered seven hits on the afternoon and were aided by eight Waynesville errors.
Cohen Epler started the game, striking out seven of the first eight batters he faced in his 2 and 2/3 innings of work. The Tigers then loaded the bases with Mason Young called upon to end the third inning. Young would be credited with the win, pitching the final three and a third, allowing only one hit and striking out four.
The impending weather has canceled the games originally scheduled for Saturday in Springfield. At this time, another game was trying to be scheduled for Friday. The next scheduled game will find the Cardinals hosting Lebanon on Tuesday.
