Webb City earns road win

Webb City rode an 11-run third inning to a 15-2 run-rule win over Carthage on Monday in prep baseball action at Carl Lewton Stadium.

The Cardinals improved to 8-5 overall and 2-0 in the Central Ozark Conference. The Tigers slipped to 8-3 and 0-1 in the COC.

The Cardinals plated four runs in the first inning before erupting for 11 in the game-changing third. Carthage pushed across a single tally in the first and third innings. The game ended after the fifth due to the run-rule.

Webb City's Treghan Parker went 3-for-5 with two runs scored, while Devrin Weathers went 2-for-4 with two RBI and two runs scored. Manny Peskar and Jacob Monroe drove in two runs apiece.

Six players scored two runs apiece — Weathers, Parker, Bryson Matthews, Cale McCallister, Kade Hicks and Peskar.

Cole Gayman earned the pitching victory after limiting the Tigers to two runs on six hits in five innings while striking out three.


Webb City hosts Joplin at 4:30 today at Barnes Field. Carthage travels to Carl Junction this afternoon.
